About us

Cappella Atenea is a music ensemble founded by graduates of Higher Music Academies and Universities in Greece and abroad. Its goal is to bring early and contemporary music closer together through historically informed performance.

Upcoming Projects

  • Fragments of Light - Divertimenti

From the radiant elegance of Mozart to the explosive rhythm and profound expressiveness of Bartók, and extending to the contemporary Greek creation of Thanos Margetis, the program offers a captivating journey through time and the evolution of the divertimento.

  • Résonance - Chamber Music Festival

Cappella Atenea presents a journey through the chamber music repertoire of the 19th and 20th centuries. Featuring works by Messiaen, Beethoven, Grieg, Britten, Brahms, Ravel, Schumann, Kalomiris, Samaras, and others, the festival explores different musical colors, expressions, and traditions through an intimate concert experience at the Old (small) Stock Market.

  • Affetti

Affetti invites the audience into the expressive world of the Baroque through the refined and deeply human music of Georg Philipp Telemann. At the heart of the program are three secular cantatas from Sechs moralische Kantaten, alongside instrumental works by Antonio Vivaldi, creating a vivid musical dialogue where voice and instruments intertwine, transforming emotion into sound and experience.

Projects

  • Musica Sacra

A special evening of Baroque music took place at the Goulandris Museum in collaboration with the University of Athens. The program, with works by Purcell, Bach, and Pergolesi, featured distinguished soloists Villy Kyriakopoulou and Heleni Calograni.

  • Music & Mouvement

At 2024 Koroni Festival, music and movement came together in a celebration of dance as a universal art.

  • Pearls of Baroque

At the historic Parnassos Concert Hall, Cappella Atenea joined forces with soprano Anastasia Symeonidou and the acclaimed harpsichordist Jerasimos Coidan for an evening dedicated to sacred and instrumental treasures of the Baroque.

  • Paros Festival 2025

An unforgettable night at the Paros Festival 2025

On August 25th, Cappella Atenea brought music to the heart of Naousa, Paros — where sea, light, and sound became one.

  • Naxos Festival - Bazeos Tower

On 28th of August, Cappella Atenea had the joy of performing at the Bazeos Tower. Surrounded by history, music, and the magical atmosphere of Naxos, it was an evening to remember.
